Civil War letters, largely correspondence between Albert H. Corwin and Lizzie P. Miller of Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York, with a few letters of Charles Williams, Julius Young, and others. Albert Corwin's papers also include a diary, 1862-1865; casualty lists, and lists of men captured; passes; discharge papers, pension certificates and GAR papers. Also, manuscript stories and poetry; ships logs and crew contracts (1840s and 1850s); and a mill daybook (1855-1856).

Mary E. (Lizzie) Fossler Miller is the wife of Newton Miller and the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Fossler, who were among the first settlers in Hardin County, Iowa.
